In the Area of Heritage, scientific quality, the capacity to attract talent and success in gaining access to competitive financing by the International Institute for Prehistoric Research (IIIPC), which has the support of Santander Bank, have enabled an important breakthrough in its consolidation as an engine of international excellence in this area during this period. Thus, it has managed to attract researchers in the Ramon y Cajal Programme, whose capacity has been endorsed by the E.U. In addition, initiatives within the Area of Heritage and in collaboration with the Botín Foundation have been strengthened and extended. Its role in the aggregation is strengthened each year. In this way, development of the WEB Semantics Heritage Cantabria 3.0 Project is maintained, and the Heritage and Territory project, which has made important progress during this period in the comprehensive study on the Nansa Valley, is consolidated as a reference.
One of the key milestones, transversal to the entire conversion project towards a Campus of Excellence, is the Augusto González Linares (AGL) Programme to attract international talent, which up until now has achieved a private contribution of almost 2.2 Million Euros. Besides this, CCI has managed to add 400,000 Euros to this private funding, which have come from the official announcement in 2011 from the Enrichment Sub-programme within the Campus of Excellence Programme.
