Cantabria International Campus > The Cantabria Association of Family-Owed Companies
The Cantabria Association of Family-Owed Companies
The Cantabria Association of Family-owned Companies is one of the aggregates of Cantabria International Campus according to the agreement signed by the concerned parties in June 2013. Its scope of participation is set out within the CCI Strategic Area of Banking, Finance and Entrepreneurial Activity.
The Cantabria Association of Family-owned Companies is a non-profitable independent private entity, created for the support and defence of Family-owned Companies in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. In coordination with the National Territorial Associations network of Family-owned Companies, which are in turn linked to the Institute of Family-owned Companies, its aim as an association is to support the growth and evolution of Family-owned Companies, promoting business and entrepreneurial culture and encouraging policies of social responsibility.  It has approximately fifty associated companies who represent different productive sectors in the region: construction, transport and logistics, the hotel trade, tourism, commerce, industry, service to companies, etc.

Family-owned Companies are a factor in the creation of wealth and are the basic engine of productive economy, representing entrepreneurial commitment with the territorial community through continuity, converted in investment and stable employment as well as social responsibility.
ACEFAM is one of the latest members to adhere to the UC Campus of Excellence, but the relationship and collaboration between both institutions goes back to years of cooperation on the subject of innovation, transfer and entrepreneurship, mainly through the Chair of Family-owned Companies, led by Concepción López, the current Vice Rector of Internationalization, and is sponsored by Santander Bank.  The Chair deals with specific problems in this type of companies and writes studies or reports about topics of interest in family-owned companies.

They also participate through their companies in the UC-Companies Forum, a stable body of analysis, collaboration and work, shared between the productive fabric and the university, aiming to promote actions and projects in common which are coherent with the interests of companies, the university and society as a whole.
Their implication with the University of Cantabria also covers actions such as participation in the UC Summer Courses, addressing the topic of challenges and solutions in family-owned companies or participation of its partners in Santander International Entrepreneurship Centre (CISE), sponsored by the University of Cantabria, the Government of Cantabria and Santander Bank.

The Association and the University both share values of commitment with the region and a long-term vision for the development of employment and the economy of Cantabria.
