Open applications for researchers in the following Areas:
  • Water resources: Water Sciences/Resources, Environmental Fluid Mechanics, Ecohydraulics, Hydrology, Hydroinformatics. (ANNEX I)
  • Biomedicine and Biotechnology: Industrial biotechnology with a predominant profile towards drug development and other products of interest in human and animal health. (ANNEX II)
  • Heritage and Language: Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. (ANNEX III)
The University of Cantabria (UC), located in Santander, Spain, on behalf of Cantabria Campus International (CCI), one of the 9 International Campus of Excellence selected by the Spanish Ministry of Education in 2009, invites applications to three senior research positions to lead and consolidate new research lines and projects in different UC Departments, Laboratories or Research Centers located in the autonomous region of Cantabria (Santander).
Successful applicants must hold a doctorate in the appropriate field. They must demonstrate ability to conduct research suitably, and must have acquired at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience (10 years or more is preferred). Applicants will be expected to lead, develop and consolidate the research and transference of results in one of the three projects defined in the above mentioned areas of science or technology. The three different projects are specified and extensively described in the corresponding annexes.
The Augusto González Linares (AGL) researchers are required to make substantial contributions to the proposed programs. They are expected to produce a strong impact on the Cantabrian research and transfer system, becoming active members and leaders of the Cantabrian research community in an international context.
It is also expected from candidates to lead and develop high competitive postgraduate programs in the proposed areas.

Selected candidates will be offered:

  1. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Ranging initially from 60,000€ to 100,000€ per year.
  2. An initial three-year contract.
  3. Right to select a research team consisting of up to two three-year postdoctoral researchers and one predoctoral student.
  4. A supplementary amount of 100,000 € for initial infrastructure and equipment.
After the three years, the selected candidates will be evaluated for their scientific productivity and accomplishments. Candidates and postdoctoral members of their team with a favorable evaluation will be offered a permanent contract as staff researchers at UC, Research Centers or other cooperating institutions of CCI.
